Finding quality people within minutes versus sorting through resumes for hours is a game-changer. Censia’s Talent Intelligence Platform was a great addition to our Talent Acquisition strategy!”

“Censia helped us find hidden talent for hard-to-fill roles. We weren’t having much luck finding candidates and Talent Intelligence surfaced high-quality people for us.”

Ed Sayson
Talent Acquisition Leader, Human Resources, ARC Document Solutions

“We’ve had a very strong response with building models and reaching out. We have an extensive agreement with another platform, but more and more of my recruiters are using their Censia solution first to get in there and get some results, so there’s a bit of an irony there that one is taking over the other. These talent networks have a lot of data but Censia understands the data with greater accuracy.”

Diversity Hiring Practices

We’ve known that diversity, equity, and inclusion practice within companies is essential for a long time. It’s no longer an option, and diversity hiring is required for top talent companies. Diversity hiring has become necessary because today’s workforce does not look like 10 or 20 years ago. Generations are becoming less homogenous and more diverse, creating challenges but also opportunities within companies.

As diversity hiring becomes more mainstream, companies recognize that they need diversity in numbers and within their ranks. Studies have shown that having diversity within leadership roles helps companies reach new markets and create innovative ideas. This is because diversity hiring practices bring different perspectives, new ideas, and unique talent to the table.

The diversity hiring practices that companies are currently using include government agencies initially implementing pieces of training through legislation. Still, they have since become commonplace throughout many industries across the world. These diversity pieces of training on diversity hiring practices, diversity recruitment, diversity promoting, and diversity retention. Diversity pieces of training are usually created by outside diversity hiring agencies or by inside diversity hiring specialists within companies.

Diversity hiring practices are important when trying to hire people with different backgrounds. You want diversity not only in diversity hiring practices but diversity as a whole. Diversity hiring practices help companies to achieve this diversity and bring diversity hiring into their workplace.

A company’s culture is critical, especially when it comes to diversity hiring practices within the workforce. It’s vital for these cultures to be diverse and accepting of diverse hiring practices. It’s also important for diversity hiring practices to identify these cultures and help companies understand how to overcome diversity, equity, and inclusion challenges within their organization.

Diversity and Inclusion Strategy

Your diversity strategy should be in line with your company values. For example, Google’s diversity strategy is driven by its core value to “Do the Right Thing.” They are committed to diversity across race, gender, age diversity, and more.

To create a diversity recruiting strategy that impacts diversity in your organization, you need to think about diversity hiring practices on a larger scale. This diversity recruiting strategy needs to be created with the diversity hiring agency you are working with, your HR department, and your leadership team to feel diversity throughout the organization.

Once you’ve set about diversity hiring practices above, diversity recruitment within your organization can begin. You want to ensure diversity recruitment does not create diversity hiring challenges. For example, diversity recruitment should not lead to diversity promotion or diversity retention challenges.

To ensure diversity recruitment can be implemented within your organization, you should start by reaching out to HR and understanding whether diversity recruiting is a responsibility of the company or if it’s an outsourcing opportunity for a diversity staffing agency. If you choose diversity hiring agencies, staffing agencies, and outsourcing diversity recruitment solutions, it is essential to consider diversity recruiting a long-term investment.

Diversity retention and diversity promotion conceptually go hand in hand with diversity hiring practices. They both focus on diversity within the workplace and ensuring an inclusive environment for people of all backgrounds.

Diversity Hiring Laws

Over the past 20 years, diversity hiring has been a growing practice on behalf of companies. It is becoming common for law firms and businesses to hire diverse hires on their staff to be more inclusive. This means hiring men and women from races other than Caucasian or African American, Hispanics, Asians, etc. Because diversity hiring laws have been in place for a while, you must be aware if diversity hiring laws include diversity hires.

Diversity hiring laws do not include diversity hires that are discriminated against due to their age, sex, or physical handicap. If a business has a diversity policy, it cannot discriminate against hiring women but employ men. It can also not discriminate based on race, sexual orientation, and other protected factors. Discrimination is illegal, and diversity hiring laws have been set to protect diverse hires from discrimination. If a diversity hire has been discriminated against, it can file a complaint with the EEOC, EOIR, or USMS. Contacting the organizations mentioned above is the first step taken if diversity hiring laws have been violated.

How Diversity Hiring Works

The Civil Rights Act of 1964 – Title VII – prohibits employment discrimination based on race, color, religion, national origin, or sex. The Equal Pay Act – The EPA was enacted in 1963 and made it illegal for employers to pay unequal wages to men and women who perform substantially equal work.

The Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967 – prohibits employment discrimination against individuals 40 years of age or older. The Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA) – established that an employer could not discriminate against an applicant because they had a disability. It also included the provision that employers provide reasonable accommodations to a disabled employee unless it would pose an undue hardship business.

The ADA also covers employers with 15 or more employees. The Civil Rights Act of 1991 extended protection provided by Title VII to situations where discrimination occurred because of gender and those involving sexual harassment.

Due to legislation, employment opportunities have significantly expanded in the last five decades, but they have also become more complex. Many diversity hiring practices are in place today to help combat discrimination or unlawful bias toward protected groups.

Diversity Recruiting Agencies

The diversity industry is a multi-billion dollar business, with diversity recruiting agencies being the front line of the battle for equality of opportunity in both the private and public world of work. These diversity agencies are more than just diversity recruiters, however. They also provide diversity training workshops and hiring policies to companies who want to comply with diversity hiring practices. Many diversity agencies also provide diversity recruiting services and staffing during transitional periods such as mergers and acquisitions, outsourcing, downsizing, and project-based work.

The diversity industry includes diversity recruiting companies that recruit diverse employees and diversity training firms that offer diversity recruiting best practices to corporations and the military. Private sector diversity recruiting agencies typically specialize in diversity recruiting and staffing, while diversity training firms generally focus on diversity and diversity hiring and compliance. Diversity agencies can work with private, public, and military sectors to create diversity-friendly workplaces.

The diversity agencies go beyond diversity recruiting to diversity training for both the company and its employees. In addition to diversity recruiting, many diversity agencies provide diversity training seminars for companies that want to institute diversity hiring practices. Some diversity agencies also offer diversity courses in diversity compliance, diversity awareness, and diversity administration.

Diversity Recruiting Platforms

Diversity recruiting platforms help you find more people to work with. This allows your company to grow, and startups use them to diversify their teams. They let you search for diversity-specific job titles, recruit exclusively from minorities, women, or veterans. Benefits of diversity hiring practices for diversity recruiting platforms include diversity within the company.

There is diversity in diversity which means the diversity is not the same type of diversity. There are different diversity considerations such as race & ethnicity, sexual orientation, and gender diversity. Diversity hiring practices benefit from diversity recruiting platforms because they help you find the diversity you are looking for.

Diversity recruiting platforms are diversity specific. Diversity specific means they are for diversity, not all hiring practices. There is diversity in diversity which means the diversity is not the same type of diversity.

Diversity recruiting platforms also help with diversity recruiting and diversity hiring practices since they can make diversity search easier and seek out diverse candidates. This diversity benefits the company because it helps bring in all types of diversity, whether race or sexual orientation diversity.

Diversity Hiring Goals

Every company has hiring goals, but not all companies have diversity hiring plans. Why is diversity hiring so important? Because diversity is not only about numbers and the available diversity data suggests that more diversity among employees leads to better business results.

Hiring goals are an element of every company’s diversity plan. They’re set for each hiring level and department, ensuring fairness and balance in recruiting efforts. Diversity hiring goals go beyond just having a formal procedure for filling vacancies. However, diversity hiring goals can be seen as part of such a process. They also serve other purposes, such as:

Providing benchmarks/targets against which to monitor diversity hiring practices and progress (e.g., number of underrepresented people in recruitment channel). Highlighting diversity issues, especially where there may be imbalances between an employer’s diversity goals and diversity data for its workforce.Providing reassurance that diversity is being taken seriously, where diversity values are shared by top management. Skeptics have said hiring goals are just window dressing. However, diversity hiring goals may be linked to monetary rewards or promotion opportunities. Diversity hires can help an employer attract good talent, retain employees and improve the bottom line.

Diversity hiring goals are set at different levels of organizations depending on the diversity issues in these organizations because each organization has other diversity issues.

Each company sets its diversity hiring practices. There is no one standard model due to the individuality of companies. Still, it’s expected that if a company has departmental diversity hiring practices, they try to support regional diversity via their diversity programs and workshops or gatherings because high potential talent should have equal opportunities to advance their careers as long as diversity hiring goals are maintained.
